Worst clean-up so far...

Okay moms, what has been your worst clean-up your baby has created for you (bodily fluids aside)? Tonight, I had my first big mess from Lyla. Story below...

Tonight as I was preparing dinner, Lyla decided she wanted to play in the pantry. Usually when she does this, she just likes to pick at the plastic of the bag of rice or hit it or whatever. So, she was doing this very thing as I went put some chicken in the microwave, just having fun, minding her own business. 45 seconds later the microwave beeps and as I go to grab the chicken, I see Lyla is sitting in a HUGE pile of maple syrup (see below)....

She had somehow managed to unscrew the cap of the 64oz jug of maple syrup and tip it over in just that 45 seconds. She wasn't even playing with it before! I am amazed. So, I called for Nate, took some pictures because although it was a pain, it was really cute, he grabbed her to bathe her and I cleaned the mess. I'll just say, that much maple syrup is not the easiest thing to clean up. I had to use a rubber spatula and a dust pan. I am just grateful she did not make it to the carpet!

Hope your day was cleaner than mine!!

Kelly, you must be an amazing mom! Your first reaction was to take a picture. I probably would have screamed in frustration. Hopefully I will gain some patience before my kids come along. (P.S. Her face is too cute to get mad at!)

Lol - that's so cute (and horrible at the same time)! Jenny (Clark)'s baby, Hannah, made a big ol' poo mess and she got some really good pictures out of that, too. Isn't that funny that it can be such a HUGE mess but they make it look so cute?!

You definitely win on the worst mess so far! I've only had to deal with noodles in large quantities. :)

Kelly, this is fabulous! It's like a rite of passage. I have to say that you got off easy though... I've had 64 oz of honey spilled from the top shelf of a turning lazy-susan cupboard and had to disasemlble it with honey dripping on my hair before I could even finish cleaning the mess. And I have yet to see anything as time consuming to clean as 2 pounds of Millet grain scattered through a totally messing toy room - that mess took 2 days of initial clean up and we still found millet for weeks after... months after... I even found millet YEARS after... Aahhh Good Times. Happy cleaning!

Oops - I wasn't trying to make a contest.

Kelly, You really are so GREAT! Lyla's soooo lucky to have a mom who can see the silver lining in every cloud (or syrup spill.) She looks adorable in the pics too. We're thinking about you guys and wishing the babes could make beautiful messes together - have a great day!

Kelly...I would have screamed and then taken the picture. Also I would have cleaned up the boys and had Gio clean up the mess....lol!
My kids never really go into anything. I was lucky! I think that worst thing was taking the pots and pans out to play with them. It just never happened to me..thank goodness. I guess when the grandkids come along will see....
She is so cute, how could you get mad anyway!

She looks so cute! I love that look of "oops, did I do something wrong?!" I can't believe how big she's getting. In all your recent posts I am surprised by the fact that she looks like a little girl, not a baby! And she looks a ton like you. I'm sure everyone tells you that!

She's adorable. My big mess was butter. Cohen fished a tub of butter out of the trash (it was on the very top) and went and sat in front of the slider behind my curtains like he does every morning to watch the dogs. So I was sitting on the couch feeding Jordyn when he walks over, tub of butter in hand and eating it! It was all over his body, face, my floor (tile thank goodness), ALL over my sliding glass window, all over our kitten......AND all over my curtains that no lie I had JUST washed and re-hung! All while my husband was at work so I had to clean up the whole mess by myself and continue to feed Jordyn. I didn't get a picture of him because I had to clean him before he got to my couches but I did get a picture of my window and the kitten. I too had TONS of fun cleaning that mess.....GREASY!!!
