Craft project, baby ducks, cute Lyla

Well here is a small update in pictures.

I recently bought bookshelf from a friend (who found this at a garage sale) for $15 and we painted it black. I love it and once I get things organized, it will be a perfect fit for our home! (Unfortunately, I forgot to get "before" pictures)

I also bought this coffee table at a garage sale for $5 and painted it black too. We haven't had a coffee table since we've been married so I thought it was time to get one and this one is in GREAT condition!!

There is a family of ducks that live in the pond in front of our house. I went to pick Nate up at work the other day and the mama duck was crossing the street with her 12 little ducklings and it was SO CUTE. 4 of the ducks were afraid to hop off the curb and then once one of them got the courage, the others followed. I thought it was the cutest thing. I gladly waited for them to all cross before I went on my way. They are getting bigger now and it's fun to see them learn and grow from their parents.

Now for Lyla. She is moving around a ton, just not crawling yet. She likes to get going with her legs but she hasn't figured out that she needs to use her hands as well. So she ends up face planting herself into the ground like a wheelbarrow.

Lyla has also been experimenting with different sleep positions. She basically sleeps in all positions BUT her back. Every time I lay her down on her back in her crib, I find her in a different position and spot when I come back. Here she is sleeping on her side...

I found her like this one night, her face planted into the crib mattress. To check if she is breathing I will always touch her lower back and every time I do, her butt pokes up like a bee. It's so cute because nothing else moves but her butt. So we call her our little bumble bee. Maybe we should call her bumble butt?

I also find her in this corner very often.

Lyla in one of her new swimsuits.

Another swimsuit shot while daddy entertains her.

My sassy little girl... she looks like a little priss, huh?

So cute :)

This smile of hers cracks me up!! She loves to chew on her lower lip and so that is why she looks so funny. This was just a cute dress she wore today at church. You can't see the whole thing but that is okay :)

Another cute shot.

Anyway, sorry for the picture overload. I tend to do that sometimes, but that's okay. I'll get a picture in of Nate sometime, haha! Hope everyone is doing well!!

I choose... none of them :)

So I went shopping to get the swimsuits and I know that EVERYONE loved the strawberry swimsuit, but I came across these, fell in love, and bought them.

This one I just thought was so cute. I love the color navy and I loved the buttons. So cute.

Then I got these sunglasses...

...and this hat...

...to go with this swimsuit!!!

I love them both and I love the accessories that went with them. I am still going to go to Old Navy (where the strawberry one-piece is) and see if I can't find a great deal. The top two were on sale and I just couldn't pass them up!

Anyhoo, hope y'all like them and if not, don't tell me :)

Baby Swimsuits....

So, Nate and I have been trying to decide whether we should or shouldn't buy Lyla a baby bikini for her swimsuit this summer. After much debate, we thought it would be okay. I am not sold on just buying a bikini but I think they may be a little easier. Anyway, unfortunately, from the places I have looked, they don't really make bathingsuits at the more affordable places for babies under 12 months. But here is what I have come across so far...
The above swimsuit is my coveted one. I love it. But it's $70. Boo.

I really like this green one.

Cute pink floral tankini.

Cute strawberry one-piece!

... which is your favorite??

Cheekbones...

A feature that I wish I had and could pull off is awesome, prominent cheekbones. Not only is Vanessa Hudgens GORGEOUS, but she has incredible cheekbones. So unfair. I've got one thing on her though... my man is SO much cuter than her man :)

This poem made me cry... a must read for mom's!

My dad's friend had him forward this poem to me today and I started crying at like the 3rd or 4th line... I'm a little sensitive :) Hope you mom's enjoy!

A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"

"Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."

The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."

God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."

Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"

God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"

God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."

"Who will protect me?"

God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking it's life."

"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."

God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."

"You will simply call her, 'Mom.'"

Puppy vs. 2nd Baby

This past Wednesday our friends went out of town and needed someone to watch their puppy Basil.  (See picture below, and yes, I stole this picture from our friend's blog)  As you can tell, she really is a cute pup and we have had a really good time with her.  However, she is A LOT OF WORK!  Most of this is probably due to the fact that Nate is immobile and Lyla is a little sick and I'm just a little spread thin.  AND the fact that Basil is in her puppy stage and is very active so it has been a change from my quiet, calm little home to a crazy one.  I don't know how my friend does it.  She must be super-mom and can probably do pretty much do anything!

Anyway, we're not planning on getting a puppy or anything but I've got to be honest, this is making me a LITTLE nervous for when we have a second child.  I know puppies and babies are two completely different things but still, I think both require a lot of time and effort.  I really don't know which would be more difficult!  Nate and I aren't planning on having another baby any time soon but when we do, I hope I'll be able to handle it all (and have a non-injured husband, haha!).

Anyway, like I said, we really have enjoyed having Basil here and it has been fun to have a puppy to play with.  So, overall, good experience and good birth control :)

Not Private

I know, I said I was going to go private... so why don't I already?!  Well because I have been busy and I am not as gung-ho (sp?) about it as I was 2 weeks ago.  My excuse, Nate just had knee surgery and I have a teething baby and to be honest, I don't feel like setting it up right now.  So, I am sorry for the inconvenience.  I will let you know if/when I will go private and will keep the email addresses that you guys have already sent.  Sorry for the faking everyone out :)
