When should I break up with my onesies (well, Lyla's)?

At what point do you stop putting your baby in just onesies? Seriously, I have no idea what age they should start wearing regular clothes. Lyla is still wearing onesies like... everyday. I see other kids her age or younger wearing a t-shirt with bottoms, socks, and shoes. Here is the thing... I LOVE onesies (especially Carter's). They are so EASY (quick to put on and with changing diapers). I know that she can't wear them forever. I guess I just need to be told how long it is "socially acceptable" for Lyla to be wearing these onesies all the time.

So, mom's, hit me with it... when should I stop being lazy and dress Lyla in regular clothes?

I know, I'm lame.

I used onesies for about 6 months or so...then it was summer and too hot, so they went by the way side. I figure if it works for you, then keep right on using them...like they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

let's be honest here...if they had adult sized onsies wouldn't we all wear them? YES!!! because they are COMFY! I say don't sweat. Keep her in them until she can't fit into the ones you have anymore.

I'm gonna say let her wear them until she gets closer to POTTY TRAINING! Maybe next summer when it's hot, leave it out, but this winter, TOTALLY use them! It'll be cold and that extra layer will help! I sometimes end up getting Maddix (2 1/2) a "onsie-ish" type thing to go with skirts and what not to keep a "tucked in" look. And it was fine, even with pull-ups, but now that she's completely trained, can't really use it. I guess if I REALLY wanted to, I could, but it's just a pain when she really has to go and fumbling with snaps... bleh.

Long story short... Lyla has quite a bit of onsie time left in her life. if it's really hot and you have something cute, go for it and leave the onsie in the drawer. If not, snap it on her and you're good to go, no worries at all. :)

I think around 2 is usually the cut-off point. I guess at some point they stop calling them onesies and then they are just leotards. If they work for you, keep using them until they don't come in her size anymore. Josie wears them all the time too!

Oh, and yes, we need to get together!

I too was addicted to onesies. I've seen them sold for ages 24 months so don't feel bad if you hold on to them for awhile. Caleb still wears them sometimes (AKA when he's run out of clean clothes), but we really started breaking away from them when he became too wiggly during diaper changes to have to deal with one extra barrier between us and getting it all over with.

i dont think it matters how long you use them. brady still has them...up to a year. he mostly wears tshirts though but that is because boy onesies aren't as cute as girls. and he is usually in a shirt and diaper (i know im WT). so if they are easy, keep her in them as long as you like!

i remember thinking that with katelyn, especially as i watched all of the older kids with their regular shirts. there does come a point where you can't buy onesies for them anymore because they don't make them in the bigger sizes. i think that was about the time i stopped buying them.

Where do you get Nate's onsies...cause he was wearing a cute pink one with hearts and ponies on it at the family reunion...
He had a hard time giving his onesies up to!
Hey...for your christmas cards you should totally take a family picture out in the snow and all of you just wearing onesies. (I am laughing out loud at the thought...)

I think I saw ones that go up to 24 months so I'll keep Peter in them until then. I love 'em.
