Are we crazy?

Today I decided that I wanted to try to change Lyla from sleeping in a crib to sleeping in a toddler bed... or as the instructions called it, a "Day Bed". I think they call it that because it does not have any railing on the sides... YIKES! Part of me, and most of Nate is thinking "Kelly, you are nuts!". But I think I'd rather take care of this "milestone" for Lyla before the baby comes. Then after the baby is here for a while, we can work on potty training (since she already tells me when she is "poopy" and can tell when she is about to be "poopy"). Yeah? No? Am I crazy? I guess we'll find out!

She climbed out of her bed right after we put her in it. You'd think the brace would stop her, BUT it definitely doesn't. We'll see how this goes!!

that's exactly what we did with katelyn as well. we moved her into the big girl bed before the baby came, then potty trained soon after. both were great (not perfect obviously).
this may sound mean, but when Katelyn was first learning to sleep in her big girl bed, she kept trying to get out and kept trying to sleep on the floor. since we didn't want that to be a habit, we decided to check on her every so often and put her back in bed. after 2-3 times she would cry, but would eventually give in and eventually stopped getting out all together. good luck though! each kid and each experience is so different.

No-not crazy at all! I'm guessing Lyla is mellow enough to catch onto the big girl bed pretty quickly without too much of a fight. You may have a few sleepless nights but I say get it out of the way now :)

I totally bet Lyla can do it! I will be excited to see how it goes...and then maybe I will get up the courage to move Cam out of his crib!

we are doing that to B when we move to KY in two weeks. I have friends that have done it at a young age and the kid has no problem with it. hope it goes well!!!

Audrey has been in a twin-sized bed for a few weeks already. She does great. I was surprised because a few nights in a row she'd get out and go to the door and cry there. We just left her crying, because going in wasn't any help...anyway, every night, she fell asleep on her bed with her blanket over her. I thought it was funny. We skipped the toddler bed stage with her because of space issues. We got bunk beds for the older kids. They love it!
We did get a side rail for Audrey. She fell out of bed quite a bit at first...but I think by the time we finally got the rail she'd taught herself to not fall out...but I'm still more comfortable with the rail there. :)

Good Luck! I am dying to hear how it goes. Johnny will be three in November and still sleeps in a crib. I am just not ready for him to give up the 10-11 hour night sleep and the 3-4 hour nap. Maybe when we nmove to Phoenix he will graduate to a big bed. Or maybe not.
